Light-Sabre duel puts two in hospital

"TWO Star Wars fans are in a critical condition in hospital after duelling with lightsabres made by filling fluorescent light tubes with petrol.

The pair - a man aged 20 and a girl of 17 - are believed to have been filming a mock fight when one of the devices exploded in woodland on Sunday."[via: Mirror.co\

Next Gen Games: $59.99

"I was browsing around on the EB Games website, when I noticed they had listings for PS3 games as well as XBox 360 games. All the games are listed at a $59.99 price point. EB does have a disclaimer saying that price and release date may change though."

Finally we can talk about nothing

I am not sure if this has really happened like this before, but by the time the MTV special aired tonight, there was nothing to tell. I am not even sure if there is that much to share at the press conference on Monday (by the way, tune in for all the delayed news that really matters).

So as I had mentioned, I was at the taping of the show last week with Amy (Valkyrie FD / Athena PMS) and Amber (Athena Twin PMS) as well as some other rockin PMS and h20 guys. I had already planned to fly in to cover the event as Press, but when I told Amy I needed to crash at her hotel, she offered to put me on the special "gamer" list. I haughtily think to myself, "dude, I am press, what good is a gamer pass going to get me". So I arrive at the Place Avalon in Hollywood, walk to the front door when security greeted me. "Um, I am registered as press," I begin, "but you also may have my name on your 'gamer' list." Instantly he was on the radio, and there were PA's rushing down the stairs to wisk me away to the VIP lounge upstairs with Jessica Simpson, J Allard, Diet Cokes and free Cheetos. So this is how the LA stars live.

The audience downstairs was a fully cast crowd of several hundred beautiful kids in their early 20's with more makeup than a mac counter. So why, with celebs and MTV bootie babes were we VIP? Apparently there were exactly 18 gamers there. It kinda pissed me off that gaming has come to a point where we needed people who may have had no idea what the 360 even was, selling the product. Then I realized I - believe that the model in the Suave commercial actually uses a $2 bottle of conditioner hanging in my shower, but the truth is, I am pretty darn sure she doesn't.

Welcome to the mainstream guys; it is going to be an interesting 2 years..

Gamers shine light on Perfect Dark Zero?

Well a couple ladies from my XBL clan, PMS, seemed to have slipped a few details despite our NDA. Since I didn't say it, I will just link to it ;)
"In an Xbox Live interview with Gamertagradio.com, members of all-girl gaming clan (and Xbox Live marketing tool) PMS, an acronym for "Psychotic Man Slayez," spoke about their experiences at the taping of the Xbox 360 unveiling in Los Angeles last Thursday. Aside from dancing around some of the basic specs of the system and gloriously touting the next-gen console's features, the ladies got around to talking about the only playable game on display, Rare's Perfect Dark Zero."

burned both ends

I actually have a long post about this, but no time to edit it yet. Basically, just finished pre-E3 week which left me a little tired. During the day I am finishing a programming contract with a CEM company in Foster City, then Frag Dolls at night mixed in with the E3 events and pre-writing stories. Add to that Sean has a new awesome job writing for an MTV animated show and is moving to LA on Sunday... there has not been much free time.

OK - enough whines. Tonight I am flying to LA to see the taping of the MTV special showing the XBox 360. I have nothing to complain about. Even better is that Valkyrie and her twin, Amber are actually in the show so I have a free hotel room in West Hollywood as well as some quality Valk time. Love that girl. More tomorrow.
